Sam Nagel Art
graphic Design
Over the past ten years I have specialized in graphic design for the art licensing and home decor industries. I work on everything from digitizing traditional paintings, to layer separation and designing collections, as well as oversee the production-readiness of designs for manufacturers and factories. I also create an assortment of marketing materials for both print and web, including social media and e-commerce sites. Past projects have included products made for large retail stores and catalogs, including Bed Bath & Beyond, HomeGoods, Lowes, & Williamsburg Marketplace.
From Watercolor to Dinnerware
Every element is a watercolor painting that was cut out in photoshop and arranged to form a collection of products. Each product design is applied to the manufacturer’s templates and sent off to a factory for production. Samples are made by the factory and a proofing process begins until all parties are satisfied with the result. Approved samples are professionally photographed. Backgrounds are removed and lifestyle photography shots are touched-up. A catalog is designed along with other marketing material.
As the graphic designer, I work on the entire digital side of each project, from scanning the original art, creating the design in photoshop, prepping the files for production, to touching up the photography and creating all subsequent marketing materials. Displayed is an example of the steps involved in the production process. |
